Organizers of the third annual Festival del Mar in San Patricio – Melaque on Jalisco’s Costalegre have released more details of the events on offer throughout December.
Organized by a non-profit civil association and supported by the municipal government, the Festival del Mar promotes the local area through culture, sports, art and gastronomy.
The fun begins on Friday, December 14 with a sand sculpture competition, followed by a swimming race across Melaque bay on Sunday, December 16. The following Sunday there will be a ten-kilometer race and then the Melaquezazo quad-bike race takes place on December 30.Every day from December 26 to 31, there will be music on the beach from 2 p.m. and live performances at the San Patricio plaza at night, including a concert by famed Mexican guitarist Paco Renteria on December 29.
To round the festival off and celebrate New Year in style, the Melaque Fest concert on December 31 will feature hip-hop, ska and reggae acts plus quality DJs. For more information on how to enjoy or participate, visit www.festivaldelmarcostalegre.com.
