Puerto Vallarta bypass now a priority

Faced by the possibility of further federal budget reductions in 2017, Jalisco legislators are urging Governor Aristoteles Sandoval to give his commitment to building a “macrolibramiento” (ring road or bypass) around Puerto Vallarta.

Completion of this road will provide motorists with a clear run from Highway 200 in Costa Alegre to Bahia de Banderas and the Nayarit coast.  The current “libramiento” is limited in its effectiveness, most residents say.

“The macrolibramiento cannot be put off any longer,” said Saul Galindo Plazola, from the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD).  “It’s vital to incentivize mobility and local economic activity.”
