First stage of Vallarta ‘Via Corta’ on track for Easter opening

The Jala to Compostela section of the new highway/toll road to Puerto Vallarta, often referred to as the Via Corta, will be completed in time for the Semana Santa (Easter) holidays, Mexico’s Communications and Transportation (SCT) Secretary Gerardo Ruiz Esparza announced last week.

He also promised that the second leg, from Compostela to the coastal  town of Las Varas, will be finished by the end of 2017.

Esparza noted that his agency is committed to completing the final, longer stretch, from Las Varas to the Punta de Mita turn off, by the conclusion of the current presidential term, in December 2018.
