Nuevo Vallarta to host ‘Clean Beaches’ Convention

The seventh National Clean Beaches Convention will take place Tuesday to Thursday, June 8-10 at the Marival Resort hotel in Nuevo Vallarta.

Riviera Nayarit, a 200-mile stretch of coastline whose current hotspot is the little surfing village of Sayulita, currently boasts 12 beaches certified as clean by the federal government.

Nuevo Vallarta recently was certified a “Clean Tourism Destination,” and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle’s marina received the Blue Flag Award for its maintenance of pristine environmental conditions and commitment to sustainability, among other criteria considered when giving out the award.

Dignitaries attending the meeting include Nayarit Governor Robert Sandoval, Bahia de Banderas Mayor Jose Gomez and several federal government ministry heads.

Thirty-one tourist destinations in Mexico are Clean Beach Certified, while 21 have been awarded the Blue Flag.
