Puerto Vallarta now has eight beaches with Blue Flag “cleanliness” certification and a ninth is on the way, according to Mayor Arturo Davalos.
The beaches are Los Camarones, Concjas Chinas 1, Conchas Chinas 2, Playa del Sheraton, Playa de Oro, Palmares, Garza Blanca and Amapas. Mismaloya is awaiting certification, Davalos says.
The Blue Flag is a certification by the Foundation for Environmental Education and is one of the world’s most recognized eco-labels. Beaches and marinas that achieve this accolade must comply with a specific set of criteria relating to water quality, information provision, environmental education, safety and beach management.
