New PV toll road section opens

Another finished stretch of the “Vía Corta” (short route) toll road from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta opened last week.

The 15-kilometer section from Las Varas to El Monteón bypasses the pueblos of La Peñita de Jaltemba, Guayabitos and Los Ayala.  Toll booths are already in operation on the new section of roadway, and the charge for cars is 60 pesos.

Observers from several Puerto Vallarta media outlets noted that the equivalent stretch of Highway 200 is not the most complicated part of the coastal road, and the new 15-kilometer section will save motorists only a short amount of time.  The slowest part of the existing highway is the stretch from San Francisco to Sayulita and the turnoff to Cruz de Huanacaxtle, which becomes congested every time there is an accident, as well as during busy holiday seasons. This section of the new autopista is still a long way from completion, reports say.
