‘Tis the Season to be jolly in Puerto Vallarta

“Mar de Regalos” are the words on everyone’s lips in Puerto Vallarta this holiday season! It’s a joyful, citywide Christmas bash running from December 18 through January 1. This sun-kissed municipal celebration wraps the city in twinkling lights, music, tradition, and plenty of reasons to gather, laugh, and celebrate together.

The merriment officially begins on December 18 at 6 p.m. at Los Muertos Pier, where the ocean meets holiday magic during the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. From there, the holiday cheer pops up all over town!

Los Muertos Pier, Los Arcos del Malecón, Parque Hidalgo, and Lázaro Cárdenas Park transform into nightly celebration zones, with events starting around 6 and 7 p.m.

Expect cozy Christmas movie nights, energetic DJs, live holiday shows, smooth saxophone melodies, traditional villancicos, folkloric dance, and a musical mix as colorful as Vallarta itself. Think bossa nova, pop, jazz, reggae, boleros and beloved Mexican classics. No two nights are the same, and every evening brings its own sparkle.

The fun rolls right through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, then cranks up the volume from December 26 to December 30 with a series of live concerts.

The grand finale arrives on December 31 with a spectacular New Year’s Eve Festival along the Malecón. Starting at 8 p.m., the night comes alive with mariachi, cumbia, and a headline performance by The Blaze, all building up to a dazzling fireworks show over the bay as the New Year officially begins.

To ease into the year ahead, the celebration winds down on January 1 with the laid-back “First Sunset” gathering at Palmares Beach. Beginning at noon, it’s the perfect excuse to relax, enjoy the sea breeze, and toast to new beginnings as the sun dips below the horizon.

With free events across the city, Mar de Regalos captures the heart of Puerto Vallarta’s warm, welcoming, and full of festive spirit.

Come share the joy, the music, and the magic of the season.
