New beer plant makes Jalisco nation’s craft brewing leader

The Berber craft brewery is pumping 34 million pesos into a new plant in Tala, Jalisco that will create 120 jobs by 2017.

Company directors state and local officials gathered at a ceremony to lay the new brewery’s first stone on Tuesday.

Berber sales have grown rapidly in the past year, thanks to a dynamic marketing and distribution strategy that has seen their ales not only sold in widely in bars and restaurants but in many key shopping outlets, such as Walmart and other leading supermarket chains.

The first stage of the plant is expected to be ready for operation in March 2016.   This will require an investment of ten million pesos and employ 50 people.

Berber Director General Eleaser Berber said the company will be working closely with the Instituto Superior de Tala and the Jalisco state government in both scientific and human development in order to create “synergy.”

Berber said the firm will follow the “Triple Helix” concept of university-industry-government relations that is an internationally recognized model for understanding entrepreneurship, the changing dynamics of universities, innovation and socio-economic development.

As well as reaching new markets, the plant will consolidate Jalisco position as Mexico’s leading state for craft beer production.

Berber currently markets four styles of beer: Clara, Negra, Oscura and Ambar. For more information go to berber.com.mx.
