Giant Catrina sets new world record

The town of Zapotlanejo has set another Guinness record related to Day of the Dead, this time for the tallest catrina (elegant women skeleton).

The 18.7-meter-tall plastic and wire mesh figure weighs 600 kilograms and uses 200 meters of material for the dress and 30 more for the hat.  Zapotlanejo is Jalisco’s largest clothing hub, where hundreds of outlets hawk fashions made by the a plethora of mid- and small-sized producers in the municipality. This is the town’s seventh Guinness record.
