Number of dengue cases drops significantly

Cases of dengue for the first half of 2017 have dropped by 62 percent from the same time last year, according to the Secretaria de Salud Jalisco (SSJ).  

Antonio Cruces Mada, head of the SSJ, stated that 148 confirmed cases of dengue have been registered for 2017 so far, compared to 394 registered for July of 2016.  In addition, 18 cases of zika virus and two of chikungunya (a mosquito-born disease with symptoms similar to those of dengue) have been reported.
