Comandante Don Roberto González, a 90-year-old Guadalajara Red Cross veteran, has been turning up every day since the September 7 earthquake to volunteer his time at the collection center in the city’s MorelosPark, across from Cruz Roja HQ.
Meanwhile, Mexican marines load Jalisco Red Cross packages onto aircraft to be flown to the southern states of Oaxaca and Chiapas.
According to Cruz Roja officials, more than 500 tons of donated food, medicines and other supplies has been shipped from Jalisco to areas of Mexico affected by the September 7 and 19 earthquakes.
