Tlajomulco dog lovers denounce ‘serial killer’

It’s not just in Ajijic where animal lovers are concerned by malefactors intent of harming canines.

Animal rights activists gathered on Guadalajara’s Avenida Chapultepec last Sunday for a march to Casa Jalisco (the governor’s residence) to protest maltreatment of dogs in Tlajomulco de Zuñiga, one of the metro area’s suburban municipalities.  The protest was sparked by a recent spate of grotesque canine dismemberments, meted out by an as-of-yet unknown person or group of persons.  The copiously-bannered march was composed of over 200 people, mainly women, many of whom were accompanied by furry friends.

The protestors also drew attention to the appalling conditions that canines have to put up with in municipal albergues (shelters).

The protestors were received by junior officials, as the state governor was not at home.
