Child labor in Jalisco falls by 37 percent

According to the Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), the percentage of child labor in Jalisco has plummeted by 37.1 percent in close to three years, from 251,779 in 2015 to 156,416 by the end of 2017.

The statistical finding means that Jalisco is Mexico’s leader in reduction of the amount of minors in the workforce.

The National System for Integral Family Development (DIF) is a key reducer in Jalisco’s rate of child labor - according to the DIF itself.  Among other things, the agency provides assistance to vulnerable minors.  Through the DIF minors receive academic scholarships, psychological help, legal assistance and food.
