Fields of weed go up in flames

State and federal police joined forces this week to incinerate 138,600 marijuana plants that had been discovered in a rural location near Tequila.

Authorities rooted out 12 adjoining plantations covering an area of around 30,000 square meters. The plants measured around 50 centimeters in height.   The discovery was part of Operación Escudo Titán, a federal  initiative which began in January this year and targets the country’s most violent and drug-ridden municipalities.
