A seven-year-old girl was mauled to death this week by a pit bull in the Lomas del Cuatro neighborhood of Tlaquepaque.
According to witnesses, the girl went to deliver an item to the address where the pit bull was kept, but failed to notice the animal lurking in the front yard and was attacked immediately after opening the front gate. When neighbors eventually freed the girl from the jaws of the canine, she displayed no signs of life. Neither were paramedics, who arrived at the scene quickly, able to revive her.
The dog, which neighbors said had never previously shown any indication of being aggressive to humans, was taken to the municipal pound and will almost certainly be sacrificed.
