Temporary Ajijic town administrator takes charge

Meet Juan Ramón Flores Rojas, the new man in charge at Delegación Ajijic, the Chapala government branch office located opposite the village plaza at the corner of Colón and Hidalgo.

pg9aA native son of Ajijic, Flores is 48 years old, happily married and father to two grown sons and a teenage daughter.  He grew up here, learning to work the fields and care for livestock at his father’s side.

Flores lived and worked in California’s San Fernando Valley on and off from 1986 until the birth of his youngest child.  Since then he has earned his living locally as a freelance swimming pool and garden maintenance man. A lifelong fondness for horses and Mexican charro sports led to his involvement in Ajijic’s Asociación de Charros, including two terms as its president.

With the October 1 change of government, Mayor Moisés Anaya picked Flores as the acting Delegado (town administrator), a job he will hold until the post is filled through a public referendum to he held early next year. In the meantime he is focused on improving public services such as garbage collection, street maintenance and replacement of burnt out street lights.

Appointees temporarily heading other Delegación offices are Aarón Peña Flores in Atotonilquillo; Ramiro Rentería Silva in San Antonio Tlayacapan;  Salvador Delgadillo Márquez in San Nicolás de Ibarra; and Apolonio Rodríguez Siordia in Santa Cruz de la Soledad.
