Zapopan looks out for abused women

Women living in Zapopan who are considered vulnerable to domestic violence are being given electronic devices to emit notifications when they feel they may be in danger.

So far, 28 out of 150 “Pulsos de Vida” have been distributed to women who have taken out restraining orders on their partners or others.

When activated, the devices provide Zapopan police at the C5 station with the exact geolocation of the person. A telephone call is made immediately to ascertain the seriousness of the situation, and to listen in on any developing conflict. Units are dispatched, if assistance is requited.
