Federal cuts to hurt Jalisco, governor says

After meeting with Treasury Ministry officials, Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro has accepted tha federal funding for this state will be slashed by US$178 million in 2020 in line with the austerity measures promoted by President Andres Manual Lopez Obrador.

Nonetheless, the governor is insistent no project will be canceled as a consequence.  He admitted, however, that the area most affected by federal cuts will be highway reconstruction. Alfaro vowed that he would not try to raise additional funds by hiking taxes.
