Female firefighters make the grade

Twenty-nine women this week graduated from the first course held in Mexico for female firefighters.

The course was organized by Jalisco’s environment agency (Semadet), and conducted by instructors from several national and international agencies, including the National Forestry Commission (Conafor). Semadet Director Sergio Graf Montero said the next step will be to incorporate at least 13 of the women into regional firefighting forces.
