As a closing to the 16-day campaign of activism against gender violence, U.S. Consul General Robin Matthewman (third from left) organized a meeting for human rights heroes in the consular district of Guadalajara. Attendees included directors of social welfare agencies from the municipal and state governments, entrepreneurs, civil society activists, a journalist who recently participated in the international visitor leadership program in the United States, and others. Guests participated in a lively discussion on what their organizations are currently doing to promote human rights and eliminate violence against women and children. The event also created a space for the various participants to get to know and discuss areas of collaboration in the future.
