No fireworks please, gov’t tells priests

The Jalisco government has instructed Catholic priests in the Guadalajara metropolitan area to urge parishioners to refrain from setting off fireworks during their religious festivities.

“Not only because of the noise issue, but fireworks and bonfires also add to the contamination in the city,” Government Secretary General Enrique Ibarra Pedroza said this week. There are 390 parishes distributed across the Guadalajara metropolitan area.
