Man arrested for killing girlfriend’s dog

Jocotepec police arrested a man alleged to be responsible for the fatal stabbing of a dog in the village of Zapotitán de Hidalgo on the night of Tuesday, December 17.

According to a press release from the State Prosecutor’s office, the suspect, going by the name Victor Manuel “N” and at least two aliases, is accused of killing a boxer named Chester, owned by his girlfriend. He purportedly attacked the dog outside her home, slashing it in the ribs before tossing the dying animal into the front patio. Police responding at the scene found the presumed assailant hiding inside the property where they retrieved a knife with a 12-centimeter blade, which appeared to be the weapon.

The suspect is being held for investigation for animal abuse.
