Mazamitla gets first dibs on Magic Towns festivals

The first Magic Towns Festival (Festival de Pueblos Mágicos) will be held in Mazamitla on Saturday, February 8 and Sunday, February 9.

pg6aOn both days, the town’s main plaza will host displays (and sale) of crafts from each of the state’s eight Magic Towns, as well as their typical foods, in addition to musical entertainment, workshops for kids and cooking classes.  All the activities will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Each edition will feature a “guest” Magic Town from another part of Mexico. Jerez, in Zacatecas, is the invitee to next weekend’s festival.

A festival will be held in each of Jalisco’s eight Magic Towns throughout 2020, Jalisco Tourism Secretary Germán Ralis Cumplido said at a press conference Tuesday.

Mazamitla, Lagos de Moreno, Mascota, San Sebastián del Oeste, Talpa de Allende, Tapalpa, Tequila and Tlaquepaque are this state’s eight designated Pueblos Mágicos.

Laid-back and set amid delightful wooded countryside, “Swiss-like” Mazamitla is a popular weekend getaway for Tapatios and has plenty of excellent accommodation for visitors.  For more information on the festival, call Mazamitla Tourism at 382-538-0149.
