‘Responsible’ smog check program starts

Will Jalisco’s citizens soon be breathing more easily? That’s the hope after the state government this week relaunched its emissions testing program that has been dormant for almost a year.

pg1bIn the first stage of the revamped program, some 8,500 state government vehicles will undergo smog checks at two centralized  testing stations (Centros de Verificacion Responsable) in the Guadalajara metropolitan area.

Once all official vehicles have been checked – in about three months’ time – the focus will turn to more than 3.5 million private vehicles circulating in the state.
