State Congress seeks to license real estate agents

The Jalisco state Congress is organizing six round-table meetings – open to the various sectors of the public – prior to the drafting of a bill aimed at regulating the activities of real estate professionals in the state, Citizen Movement (MC) legislator Mirza Flores Gómez announced this week.

The legislation will seek to make the licensing of all real estate agents obligatory in Jalisco.

A previous bill presented in March 2019 failed to make it to the floor of the Congress.

According to 2018 data from the Mexican Association of Real Estate Developers (AMPI), only 10 percent of agents in the country belong to an association.
