This photograph published by the state government might give you a clue. This dump in Colonia Las Pintitas in El Salto, consisting of 10,000 used tires, is exactly the kind of breeding ground that dengue-carrying mosquitos thrive on.

In a tweet, Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro promised to clear the site and send in teams to fumigate 38 adjacent blocks. Once again, Alfaro implored all citizens to check their properties and throw out any containers that might store water, where the Aedes mosquitoes might breed.
