A man was allegedly beaten to death on Monday, July 27, by neighbors who accused him of abusing and killing a four-year-old boy in Juanacatlán.
According to various reports, between 200 and 300 neighbors either participated in or witnessed the incident in the El Faro subdivision of the Jalisco municipality, an outer suburb of Guadalajara.
Municipal police officers managed to intervene and extract the victim from the rabid crowd while he was still alive. He was rushed to a Cruz Verde (Green Cross) clinic in Tonala and later to the Hospital Civil in Guadalajara, where he subsequently died from his injuries.
Media reports said neighbors found the man with the clothes of the dead boy near where his naked body was discovered at around 5 p.m. on Monday. He was said to be around 35 years old, and originally from Veracruz.
