Jocotepec renews Covid-19 lockdown

Citing an steep spike in cases of Covid-19 infections and deaths among inhabitants, Jocotepec Mayor José Miguel Gómez has reinstated “Botón Rojo” (emergency or red button) protocols in an effort to put a check on the spread of the virus in the muncipality.

pg1cIn a video message posted on the government Facebook page late Wednesday, January 13, the mayor outlined measures taking immediate effect until further notice. He announced that food service businesses are now restricted to selling carry-out orders only. Commercial outlets are allowed to admit no more than three customers inside the premises at the same time. And he ordered the cancellation of all public events and social gatherings.

As he spoke, Civil Protection personnel were cordoning off access to the central plaza, instructing all persons found there to return to their homes.
