A woman carried out the assassination of former Jalisco governor Aristoteles Sandoval, according to new reporting by Guadalajara Spanish-language daily Mural.
This week, investigators released the images of a couple wanted in connection with the killing, which took place in a Puerto Vallarta bar in the early hours of December 18. The State Prosecutor’s Office (FGR) did not say how the couple is related to the crime, but offered a reward of one million pesos for any information that leads to their capture.
Quoting only “sources close to the investigation,” Mural’s front page story on Thursday related how Sandoval was shot from behind three times at point blank range – in the head, heart and midriff – when he went to the bathroom of the Distrito 5 bar and restaurant, located on Vallarta’s main drag, at around 1:40 a.m.
