UK/Jalisco partnership tackles social leadership issues

On February 23, the second class of participants enrolled in the British Council’s Active Citizens social leadership training program, organized in collaboration with the Jalisco state government, initiated their learning cycle in Guadalajara.

The 25 “students” are mostly public officials, who will “receive the tools and support they need to set up or adapt the way they run social action projects to tackle a social issue within their community,” the British Council says on its website. “The aim is to train participants in the skills they need to deliver the Active Citizens training to others.”

The Active Citizens methodology has already been implemented in more than 60 countries in a bid to empower community leadership.

The course in Guadalajara is scheduled to conclude on March 17.
