Emissions tests begin, not so smoothly though

Mandatory emissions tests began August 2 for all private vehicles with Jalisco license plates ending in 7 that circulate on a regular basis in the Guadalajara metropolitan area.

for no 7Tests are carried out at three specially adapted, modern centers in Guadalajara. Appointments for tests, which cost 500 pesos, must be made online.

Owners of cars with plates ending in 7 should apply for tests in August or September. The schedule for terminations in 8 is September and October, and the program continues in the same manner through the summer of 2022.

The revamped program, now known as Verificacion Responsable (Responsible Verification), got off to a shaky start Monday, with the website for appointments crashing repeatedly in the first few days. This was due to heavy demand, according to the state Environment Department (Semadet), the agency overseeing the program, which is operated by a leading German motor vehicle inspection company.
