Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro said the State Government Health Board is undertaking a “legal and logistical review of what it would imply to require a vaccination certificate to be presented at airports for people entering Jalisco.”
In addition, Governor Enrique Alfaro said the board is studying the possibility that, as of January, a vaccination certificate will be required to enter stadiums, theaters and for some other events.
To keep tourists flooding in to Mexico, the federal government has refused to demand proof of negative tests or Covid vaccines from international visitors.
“I do not understand why in other cities of the world a vaccination certificate is required and not here,” Alfaro said.
Guadalajara Mayor Pablo Lemus supported the governor’s view, saying that proof of vaccines should be requested in certain venues, including casinos, which are popular with seniors.
