Organized opposition to Covid measures is minimal

Resistance to government enforced anti-Covid measures has been scarce in Jalisco, but one group, calling itself Unidos por la Libertad (United for Freedom), is trying to push the issue center stage.

Last Monday, members of this group delivered a complaint to the State Human Rights Commission (CEDHJ), protesting the implementation of “vaccine passports” by the Jalisco state government (see story page 1), as well as the obligatory-use of face masks.

Staging a small protest outside the CEDHJ offices, the nonconformists noted that the Covid vaccine is still “experimental,” and that demanding proof of vaccines is “illegal,” contravening Article One of the Mexican Constitution that states there can be no discrimination on the grounds of health.
