Local ballet superstar returns to San Francisco

Guadalajara-born ballet star Isaac Hernandez will take one step closer to home when he switches companies from the English National Ballet to the San Francisco Ballet in July.

pg4aHernandez joined the London troupe in 2015 and has performed in many critically acclaimed productions, including Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet and La Sylphide.  In 2018, Hernandez won the Prix Benois de la Danse for his performance in Don Quixote with the Rome Opera Ballet and La Sylphide with English National Ballet. He was the first Mexican dancer to win the award.

Hernandez will return to the San Francisco troupe as a principal dancer, having been a member of the company between 2008 and 2012. He subsequently joined the Dutch National Ballet before moving to London.
