According to data released by IWSR Drinks Market Analysis, in 2022 tequila and mezcal sales in the United States will outpace American whiskey for the first time.
Mezcal, while still representing a smaller share of agave spirits, grew faster than tequila, with sales increasing by 53 percent from 2020 to 2021. Combined, sales of these two agave spirit categories are expected to grow by 81 percent by 2026.
