In some countries—Great Britain and Canada are two of the guiltier parties—an awkward pause in conversation will frequently lead to someone piping up about the weather.
Tapatios and others living in this region of Mexico don’t have this obsession, probably because the sun is shining more often than not, and the rain and “cold” come at very predictable times of the year.
That’s not to say Mexicans are uninterested in what’s going on in the skies above them, just that checking the weather forecast every time they venture outdoors is not a major consideration.
Of course, there’s far more to know about the local climate than that the rainy season runs from mid-June to mid-October. And for expats who are keen consumers of all things weather-related, there’s a website that offers a swath of detailed meteorological information—not all of it dull data. Some of their findings may actually surprise and educate you.
