One person was killed and five others injured in a head-on collision that occurred on the north end of the Libramiento bypass around midday Tuesday, May 23.
The male driver of a white Chevrolet Aveo around 60 years of age who was trapped in the wreckage was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and four passengers in a steel blue Honda Accord were rescued by Chapala’s Civil Protection and Firefighters staff using jaws of life equipment and then transported to nearby health care facilities. Passage on the bypass was blocked off and traffic rerouted through Chapala for several hours while the roadway was being cleared and the corpse collected by Jalisco Forensic Institute officials.
