Tren Ligero Line 4 pushes on

Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro this week checked on the progress of the fourth Tren Ligero (subway) line that will provide residents of Tlajomulco and Tlaquepaque with a fast link into Guadalajara.

The work is around 35 percent complete, Alfaro reported, with rapid progress being made on reconfiguring the road infrastructure that adjoins and traverses the line. When finished, Line 4’s Chinese-made trains will transport around 116,000 people each day.

There will be eight stations along its 21.1-kilometer route connecting Tlajomulco centro with the city’s ring road (periférico) and the Macrobus station (Las Juntas) in Guadalajara’s Miravalle neighborhood in just over half an hour.  Work on the $US500 million line began in May 2022, and while originally slated to finish by mid-2024, the state government has yet to announce a definitive completion date.
