Jalisco’s 3rd airport ready for prime time

Situated south of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco’s Costalegre (Happy Coast) is a 238-mile stretch of unspoiled beaches, enchanting capes and bays, and, increasingly, luxury resorts.

Located 116 kilometers south of Mismaloya and 82 kilometers north of La Manzanilla in the municipality of Tomatlán, the airport is now finished and the bidding process for its operation will begin in March, Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro announced last week.  The airport is expected to begin service before the end of 2024, he said.

The state government hopes the new airport will serve as a detonator for tourism in the region, although it is keen to stress that all new developments will be carefully regulated.
