Tlajomulco saddles up for 12-day festival

From February 18 to March 1, the Lienzo Charro Santa María in Tlajomulco will transform into an epicenter of equestrian excellence for the second edition of the International Horse and Charrería Festival (FICCTlajo Electrolit 2026), reflecting the municipality’s stated ambition to be recognized as “the sanctuary of the horse in Mexico.”

pg4Building on the success of its debut last year, which attracted nearly 80,000 visitors, organizers this year are preparing to welcome over 100,000 attendees.

Designed for families, professionals and international enthusiasts, the initiative is led by the municipal government and the Tlajomulco Cattle Association.   At the festival’s core are spectacular shows of charrería and escaramuzas. The 2026 program also introduces new competitive events, including the Copa Yukón, which will bring together the 12 best “caballos bailadores” (dancing horses) in Mexico. Another spectacle will be a monumental horseback ride (cabalgata) featuring over 1,500 horses.
