Jalisco’s Congress has officially approved a new law creating a state registry, a dedicated support fund and a network of specialized care centers for people with autism.
The legislation guarantees early diagnosis and free medical care across all regions of the state. The law locks in the expansion of DIF Jalisco’s regional centers, with existing clinics in Zapopan, Guadalajara, Tepatitlán and Puerto Vallarta now joined by new facilities in Ciudad Guzmán and Lagos de Moreno set to open next year.
A commission will coordinate strategy, while the state registry will collect real data to guide public policy. Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro has pledged stable funding for the program, ensuring the initiative continues beyond any single administration.
Parent collectives and civil associations will also collaborate on program design, with a focus on early stimulation therapies and school inclusion for children on the spectrum.
