Ajijic street improvements unveiled

Residents of Ajijic’s west end joined Cahapala Mayor Joaquin Huerta and other municipal officials for two ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Monday, August 11 to unveil recently completed public works projects on Calle Flores Magón and Privada Francisco Villa.


Ajijic tianguis to move for street improvement

Merchants at Ajijic’s Wednesday street market (tianguis) will be relocated over the next three weeks while a work crew temporarily takes over Calle Revolución to install lines of pedestrian-friendly stone pavers down the center of the cobblestone street.

Chapala salutes new nursing assistants

Two men and 41 women have become certified nursing aides after finishing the second 12-month basic health care study program sponsored by the Chapala municipal government.  Blanca Covarrubias (left) happily shakes hands with Dr. José de Jesús González, director of Chapala’s state-run Centro de Salud, after receiving her diploma and delivering a brief speech on behalf of her classmates at the July 29 graduation ceremony.
