Philharmonic Orchestra Patronato has new leader

Alejandro Raul Elizade Gutierrez, the new president of the governing body (Patronato) of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra,  has promised to help build audiences and find a “dignified” musical director.

Elizade says the Patronato will be reorganized, with three vice presidents in charge of liaising with the public and private sectors and helping promote musical development.

Elizade wants to focus on the musical education of pre-schoolers, encouraging them to learn musical instruments from a young age.  He also would like to increase the number of didactic concerts the JPO gives.

Elizade would like to see small ensembles of JPO musicians take classical music to new venues, including schools and off-the-beaten-track municipalities.

Heading the Patronato is a “great honor and great responsibility,” says the 60-year-old businessman, who was born in Mexico City but has resided in Guadalajara for the past 35 years.
