Jalisco’s Culture Department has put together the Botiquín Cultural (cultural first-aid kit) offering a full range of programs to entertain the mind. For example, log on to https://sc.jalisco.gob.mx for links to virtual tours of museums within the state and around the world, dance performances and the series of concerts by the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (OFJ), presented performed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Don’t forget checking the Centro Cultural González Gallo Facebook page (CCGonzalezGallo) to tune in the ongoing celebration of the Chapala Railway Station’s 100th anniversary.
Go to LaRondallaDeChapala on Facebook to pick up free guitar lessons and listen to the soothing sounds of the accomplished chorale and acoustic string instrument ensemble.
Also on Facebook, CulturaJocotepec shares basic drawing and painting lessons by Ricardo “El Chile de Joco” López, along with story-telling for kids, literary readings and Efemérides (historical briefs that lend an opportunity to buff up your Spanish skills).
Among many other cultural wonders found on the Internet is the New York Metropolitan Opera’s program of Nightly Opera Streams playing at metopera.org. The company will present an At-Home Gala, featuring more than 40 leading artists performing live from their homes all around the world, scheduled for Saturday, April 25, noon (Mexico time).
