Conjunto roars back to life

Despite the rise in Covid-19 infections, the University of Guadalajara’s Conjunto de Artes Escenicas is pushing forward with a relatively ambitious program of live cultural events over the coming weeks and months.

pg16bOpened in October 2017, and located on Guadalajara’s northern Perifierico (city beltway), the showpiece of the Conjunto is its impressive main performance hall, the Sala Placido Domingo, which seats 1,700. There are also three other indoor spaces, with capacities for 930 (Sala 2), 430 (Sala 3) and 200 (Sala 4) persons. The outdoor Ágora Jenkins arena can seat 800.

The next musical offering at the Conjunto will be a performance by the Orquesta de Cámara Higinio Ruvalcaba, presenting works by Vivaldi and Handel. This 20-member string orchestra was founded in 2007 under the auspices of the UdG and has earned an enviable reputation for the quality of its musicianship.
