Perfume Museum opens in Tlaquepaque

Mexico’s fabled Museo del Perfume (Perfume Museum or MUPE) is opening its second location this month in Tlaquepaque. The new attraction is located on the Andador Independencia, the craft center’s most emblematic cultural corridor.

The museum will feature seven thematic rooms, each dedicated to exploring different aspects of the world of perfume. Among these are a Sala de Procesos (Process Room), showcasing the methods of extracting raw materials in perfumery, inspired by an 18th-century workshop; a room displaying bottles and glass techniques with pieces by local artisans; another illustrating the journey from ancient civilizations to contemporary perfumery; and an interactive installation with fragrances inspired by love.

Admission is free on opening day, after which the entry fee will be 80 pesos for the general public and 35 pesos for students, teachers and senior citizens. Among the planned activities on opening day is a free fragrance sampling led by master perfumer Christophe Laudamiel at 3 p.m.
