Festival de Febrero attracts masters of their art

February is rapidly approaching, and those of us who have had the experience of the Festival de Febrero are eagerly awaiting its beginning on the first of the month.

Lasting until February 16, the festival has a profusion of great classical music programs played by first-class musicians. Artistic Director Chris Wilshere, who founded the festival 18 years ago, has a talent for attracting players of the caliber of Benjamin Bowman, recently named the Concert Master of the New York Metropolitan Opera Orchestra; New Zealand-born rising conducting star Gemma New; as well as renowned cellist and composer Andrea Casarrubios. There is far too much of interest to write about it all, so this week I will just mention a few.
