Leading man meets leading lady

Mac Morison returns to Club Exotica Friday, March 6, as host and headliner of his seventh benefit concert entitled “Let Me Try Again.”

For those of you who may be new to the Ajijic arts scene, Mac sings songs from the era of jazz standards that many of us fell in and out of love to. And he sings them for you in a marvelous baritone that will remind you of many of the greats who sang them for you in the past: Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, Vic Damone, Tony Bennett and many others.

pg25aThis year, Mac is introducing and showcasing the phenomenal talent of singer Mariana Vigueras, who sings soul, pop, rock, jazz, Broadway and opera in five languages.  If you close your eyes while she sings, you will swear at times you are listening to Streisand, Houston or Callas.  And in duet, Mac and Mariana are certain to either melt your heart or set it on fire.pg25b

In addition, Mac brings back to the stage the “energetically laid back” Comedy Central comedian Jeff Capri, as well as the amazingly versatile Mike “Scatman” Fortier and his band, The Jazz Prophets, doing blues, jazz, rock and ballads.

And if that is not enough, Mac will be accompanied by the Ajijic Showgirls, who will perform a stunning Vegas-style dance routine.

This year’s show will benefit Turning Point, a non-profit project providing free education to local children in the art of dance, as well as inspiring adults to gain confidence and healthy bodies through studying dance.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets, 350 and 400 pesos, are at Diane Pearl and Mia’s Boutique.
