Chamber music lovers rejoice: Festival Del Lago concerts are back

After a year and a half, there is something in this part of the universe to be enthusiastic about.

pg16aI am speaking, of course, about the Festival del Lago in Ajijic which had to be cancelled last year due to the Covid pandemic. Founded and directed by Chris Wilshere, the festival starts Monday, August 2, with a concert by cellist Noémie Raymond-Friset and pianist Michel-Alexander Broekart. Like all of the concerts until the last one on Saturday, August 14, this one will take place 8 p.m., at the beautiful Haus Der Musik at Calle Constitución 112 in Ajijic.

The focus of the festival is principally on intensive teaching, with 43 students from Mexico and around the world, each having five private lessons and five chamber music coachings during 12 days. These students are all here because they are talented players, so the many concerts that they will be offering are all worth hearing.
