Camaraderie overflowing at Galeria Sol y Luna

There was a delightful buzz of electricity in the air at Saturday’s opening at Galeria Sol y Luna. Twenty-two artists were highlighted and the gallery was populated with a variety of oils, watercolors, photographs and sculptures.

pg13aEach artist composed new pieces that were selected specifically for this exhibition. The gallery and patio at the hotel were overflowing with local art enthusiasts excited at viewing the show titled, “The Women of the Lake in Art.” But most of the buzz came from the featured artists.

Lakeside artists from different backgrounds and with different perspectives on art were happy to share the space and promote each other.

The common denominator was that all the exhibitors were female. The feeling most prevalent in the room was that of collaboration and camaraderie. There was laughter and lively conversation, and a mutual-affection-society vibe was palpable. There was no competition between them, just pure triumph of being in a room filled with art and wine and multiple generations of female artists.
